Keep Cool Reactive Dogs Classes

Keep Cool Reactive Dogs

Keep Cool Reactive Dogs is our class series designed for dogs who over react to dogs or people when on leash. The class is all about teaching the human handlers skills needed to manage the reactive behavior and skills to actually fix the reactive behavior. While also providing the dogs a safe and well-managed environment to practice skills around dogs and have good experiences around other dogs.

With an emphasis on human learning and dog success, our class is kept at only 4 dogs and handlers who have all been approved for class (dogs have shown an ability to be in the training center with another dog).

Each week in this class dogs and handlers will learn a new skill that they can use to manage their dog’s reactivity in the real world. We practice these skills with the other dogs in class to emulate real-world situations.

We also introduce skills that they can use to work on changing their dog’s ability to cope with dogs being in their environment and by working with the other dogs in class.

Lastly, we talk about implementing these strategies in every day life so they can practice successfully at home.

Dogs must be approved for this class.  They must have completed an Initial Consultation and interview (or just the interview if they are a previous client) to ensure they will be successful in the environment.

Keep Cool Reactive Dogs 2

This is the second level of our Keep Cool Reactive Dog class.  The work done in this class is all about increasing the difficulty of the situations that your dog can be successful.

Dogs work in closer proximity, there is more motion and activity (maybe even doing some intro to agility work together), they may work on a long line around the other dogs, we might do some protective interactions with the right group of dogs (sniffing through an x-pen), or we might go outside to work.

We also might start turning the class into more and more like a typical group class, so the dogs can transition into a group class as their next destination.
