Puppy Classes

Puppy Kindergarten (8-18wks)
Puppy socialization and puppy level basic manners group class. This is a great first class at SJC for young pups to build a great foundation
Adventure Puppy (3-6m)
Future therapy dogs, service dogs, and pups who will be in pet-friendly public spaces will learn great skills to be successful being in public
Puppy Einsteins (3-9m)
Future agility, flyball, rally-o, scent work, and other dog sport stars start here! Learn foundation skills for their future sport careers (or active pets).
Basic Manners Series
All dogs start in Elementary Manners unless they have permission from Tena to skip a grade. We really want to set our students up for succes and making sure the team has all the foundations neede to be successful in higher level class.

Elementary Manners (Level 1)
Foundation class for any dog over 4months old. Humans and dogs learn all the skills and games that we’ll build on through this series for attention, sit, down, leash manners, leave it, polite grettings, and more
Middle School (Level 2)
Take the EM skills higher! Add distance, distractions, and duration on all the basics plus teach a really reliable stay, really reliable leave it, solid polite greeting skills, and do it with the pressure of games.
High School-CGC (Level 3)
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) prep class. Build on the skills you learned in Middle school but with a specific focus on passing the CGC test. Learn the skills and how to reduce rewards to pass the test offered week 7
Manners Skills Electives
Or side quests? Classes focused on life skills, basic manners, or jobs that focus on good manners.

All classes require completing at least Elementary (unless otherwise stated)
Awesome Adolescents-up to 2y
Teenage problems? This class is different every session. The students pick the 5 topics/skills to cover from a list of 10 common teen problems. Jumping, pulling, focus, settle, etc. Puppy K or Elementary pre-req.
Life Skills and Let's Be Polite
Life Skills–door manners, stay on your station while human opens the door, leash walking, etc.
Be Polite–polite greetings and patience skills! Stay, impulse control, leave it, door manners, etc
Therapy Dog Prep
Not a test-prep class. Learn actual skills to be a great therapy dog team! Many polite greeting skills (standing, wheelchair, floor), skills for visits, and skills to navigate busy spaces. Humans learn all about TD organizations and certification
Dog Sports
We frequently offer Rally-O, Flyball, Agility Foundations, CPE Speedway, Scentwork, and precision foundation classes for sports. We occasionally will offer a disc-dog class.

Kitchen Sink
Everything but the kitchen sink! 2 weeks of intro sessions to Agility, Rally-O, and Scentwork! Beginner friendly exploration into dog sports. Get to try a few to see what sport you and your pup likes the most.

Agility Prep- pre agility skills–handling, jump skills, safety foundations
Hoops Barrels Tunnels–skills for CPE Speedway and NADAC hoopers PLUS good agility handling skills.
Kitchen Sink
ARF (agility rally freestyle)
Rally-O Classes (wcrl/cwags)
Intro to Rally–learn level 1/starter signs (and wcrl bonus signs)
Rally Courses–run through a new course each week with feedback on skills (on and off-leash courses)
ARF/Rally-Free- Agility, Rally, Freestyle level signs in C-WAGS plus Rally Free novice signs
Off-leash Rally Signs–learn signs for off-leash levels of C-WAGS / WCRL
Flyball Classes
Intro to Flyball–learn foundation skills for both the sequence of flyball but also being successful in a wild environment of fun and running
Flyball Sequence– focus on learning the full sequence of skills for the race. Jumps, box, retrieve.
Flyball TEAM– With the sequence solid, work on passing, dogs in the other lane, and staying focused
Scentwork
Intro to Scentwork–learn good foundations including odor, searching, and handling skills
Intro to Elements-learn all elements of scentwork. Interiors, exteriors, vehicles. multiple hides, 4 common odors, indication games, and more
Intermediate Scent– new locations, problem solving, drills for trialing confidence, and more!
Precision & Foundation Skills
Dog Sport Foundations–learn foundation skills and precision skills for a wide variety of dog sports
Devil’s In the Details–precision skills for obedience and rally. Fronts, finishes, position changes, heeling
Competition Heeling Games–skills and games for a flashy competition heel. Very detailed oriented class looking at the small things!
Fun Activities
Great activities to physically tire out your pup while learning fun skills! Tricks, games, non-competitive activities (some where you can earn titles).
Some classes are grouped on the same registration page. Sometimes it’s various levels of the same trpe of activity or it’s similar activities so if one isn’t available, there’s a similar class possibly available.
Tricks Classes
You can earn trick titles or just have some fun learning new things!
Novice Tricks —spins, leg weaves, peekaboo, hoop jump, and more
Intermediate/Advance Tricks–bow, leg figure 8, back up, cross your paws, close the door, and more
Circus Dog–dog catch, back stall, jump through my arms, sit pretty, send around, and more
Parkour Pups (all ages)
Learn about the Parkour program including safety skills like spotting. Dogs learn to jump on, jump over, go under, go between, go around, back up, two paws up, and get in various props. We teach the skills using stable items in school, but the goal is to use the skills with the natural environment! Make your walks more tiring and interesting
Magic Mats
1 tool, so many possibilities! You’ll learn to use a settle mat for calmness, polite greetings, staying focused around dogs, and more. You’ll also learn about using an action mat to teach fast fun skills. Use a mat for tricks at a distance, drop on recall, flyball box turn foundations, agility running contact foundations, and send out basics
Fitness Foundations
Learn skills that are commonly used in fitness plans. Two paws up, rear foot targets, hind end awareness, tuck sit, kick back stand, fold back down, push forward stand, rock back sit, walk forward stand. We also introduce Movement Puzzles that are fabulous fitness patterns with endless possibilities once they master the basic pattern.
*dogs cannot have known injuries
Say Cheese!
Learn how to take better photos of your pup AND teach your pup the skills they need to make it easy to take great photos! Teach your pup to stay laying down, with their paws crossed, wearing a headband while you walk away, lay on the ground, and snap that perfect shot! Useful skills and fun tricks make this class an unexpected gem!
Behavior Classes
Classes designed to give you tools to work on your dog’s behavioral issues and a safe place to practice. You’ll find all of our behavior minded classes here–keep cool reactive dogs, slightly spicy class, cooperative care class, nail trim class, fearful dog class.
These classes only run once a year each (and some only when I have dogs who I know need it).
Keep Cool Reactive Dog class is by approval only and all teams MUST complete an Initial Consultation prior to approval. So if you haven’t done a consult yet, you should start there.
Slightly Spicy
Got a pup who is overly excited by other dogs having fun? Got a dog with FOMO? Got a dog who is mildly reactivity towards others? Got a dog who fixates on or chases cars/bikes? Or similar struggles? This class is for you. It’s NOT a true reactive dog class but mildly spicy dogs can get a lot out of class or reactive dogs who have done some private training with us to be successful in class.
Prerequisites
EITHER:
1. successful in SJC class without needing a completely full barrier (can see some dogs a little while holding it together)
OR
2. Getting permission from an instructor after doing an initial consult and/or private sessions with SJC trainers
